Barrie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies (Education) and a Teaching Credential, plus she has completed post-graduate work with an emphasis in special education from California State University, Northridge.
Barrie has published a best-selling book,

from the publishing company, Sourcebooks, Inc. and has been published in several national and local area magazines and newspapers such as: The Acorn, Parenting Special Needs Magazine, The Autism Perspective, The Radish,
The Voices and Choices of Autism Magazine, Thousand Oaks 360, and
Living Without Magazine. Korea bought the rights to have her book translated into Korean.
Barrie has done numerous radio and TV shows. She fills some of her spare time with volunteering for many causes and organizations.
